"... Hartfield is a family name and inspired by an almost obsessive connection to nostalgia, the pairing of opposing elements, geography, nature and the never-ending need to change and create. To me everything has a connection to a story or an emotion. Often the simplest piece comes from a complex place and vice versa."
Hartfield is owned and created by Sarah Anne Hartzog. Sarah Anne has lived a life full of contradictory experiences; born in Southern California and raised in Oklahoma and Maine. She attended boarding school in Massachusetts and then had a mind-numbing run in with greek life at college in Dallas. Following college, she moved to LA and worked as a studio intern for Jennifer Gheur of JMary, did a brief stint at United Talent Agency and eventually ended up leaving the West Coast for Brooklyn. After interning at Proenza Schouler and getting fired from American Apparel, she was hired as the Events Director for Vice Magazine. Ultimately, the party planning breaking point was reached at the close of SXSW 2008. She skipped town for San Francisco to follow some silly romantic notions and get back to the beach and the mountains of coastal California. Suffice to say, experience may be her greatest inspiration. Having come full circle, to essentially end up back where it all began, Sarah now calls Los Angeles her home. Prior to embarking on her own brand full-time she was the studio manager for the Raquel Allegra label. The experience was consistently inspiring and an amazing opportunity to help grow a brand that has proven to be poised for great success. She carries all of these experiences, the good the bad and the best into her work and is passionate about sharing her stories with you.
She is also a freelance writer and wardrobe stylist.
She lives in the Los Feliz neighborhood with her two mutts; Cholula (pictured) and Harley...who's afraid of the camera.
